Puppies Eating - Week 4

The puppies enjoying their first meal of mush!
After a few steps into the food dish they lapped up the mixture of goat milk, raw ground beef and a bit of mushed apple.

And when they were done it was time to nap.

Sage Puppies Three Weeks Old

Sage's litter of puppies is three weeks old.

The pups are socializing with one another. Their eyes are open now. They are standing up, well; and, in the last couple of days, they have begun to play with each other. They have moved to their second den, in our living-room area and are enjoying a little more leg room to work on their running skills.

Sage Puppies 1st week - 5 days old

Sage's puppies are almost one week old in these photos. Their eyes and ears are still sealed. But, their ears are starting to flop over already. They'll start to acquire and develop their vision and hearing by next week. This week they continue to use their best sense, smell, in order to navigate their small world - the whelping box.

The pups spend the day nursing and sleeping. When their mother enters the area they wiggle towards her, looking like little seals as they scoot around the box and sounding like small cats when they cry. Now, at the end of week one, they are beginning to lift themselves, on wobbly, little legs.
